General Questions

What are pallet grades?

Pallets are graded A, B, or C based on their condition. Grade A pallets are new or like-new, Grade B pallets are used but structurally sound, and Grade C pallets are economy-grade for light-duty use. Each grade serves different needs and budgets.

What is a GMA pallet?

GMA stands for Grocery Manufacturers Association. A GMA pallet is the standard 48x40 inch pallet commonly used throughout North America. It's the most common pallet size and fits standard warehouse equipment and truck dimensions.

How much weight can a pallet hold?

This depends on the pallet construction and condition. A standard GMA pallet can typically hold 2,500-4,000 pounds safely. However, actual capacity depends on load distribution, pallet condition, and handling method. Always verify with us for your specific application.

Buying Pallets

How quickly can I get pallets?

For standard orders in our primary service area, we typically deliver within 24-48 hours. Same-day delivery is available for many local orders placed before noon. Large or custom orders may require additional time.

Do you offer volume discounts?

Yes! We offer competitive volume discounts for large orders. The more you buy, the better the per-unit price. Contact us for a custom quote on your specific quantity needs.

Can I pick up pallets instead of having them delivered?

Absolutely! Customer pickup is available Monday through Saturday. This can save on delivery costs for local customers. Just call ahead to ensure your order is ready.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash, checks, credit cards, and ACH transfers. We also offer net 30 terms for qualified business customers with approved credit.

Selling Pallets

What condition pallets do you buy?

We buy pallets in all conditions - from excellent condition to broken pallets suitable for parts or recycling. The condition affects the price we pay, but we'll make an offer on almost any quantity and condition.

How many pallets do I need to sell?

We typically require a minimum of 50 pallets for pickup, but this can vary. For smaller quantities, you may be able to bring them to our facility. Contact us to discuss your specific situation.

How do you determine the price you pay?

Pricing is based on several factors: quantity, condition, size, whether they're heat treated, and current market conditions. We provide fair market rates and can usually give a quote via email based on your description.

Recycling & Repair

Is pallet recycling environmentally friendly?

Yes! Recycling pallets keeps wood out of landfills, reduces the need for virgin materials, and has a much lower carbon footprint than manufacturing new pallets. We process thousands of pallets annually, making a significant environmental impact.

Can any pallet be repaired?

Most pallets can be repaired if the main structural components are intact. However, pallets with extensive damage or rot may not be economical to repair. We inspect each pallet and recommend repair only when it makes economic sense.

How much does pallet repair cost?

Repair costs vary based on the extent of damage, but repaired pallets typically cost 50-70% less than new ones. We provide quotes after inspection. For many businesses, repair programs offer significant savings over time.

Heat Treatment & Compliance

What is ISPM 15 and do I need it?

ISPM 15 is an international standard requiring wood packaging for export to be heat treated to prevent pest transfer. If you're shipping internationally, you likely need ISPM 15 compliant pallets. We can provide heat-treated pallets with the proper certification stamp.

Do all Grade A pallets have heat treatment?

No, not automatically. Heat treatment is a separate specification. If you need heat treated pallets, please specify this when ordering. We have both heat-treated and non-heat-treated pallets available in all grades.

Delivery & Logistics

What areas do you deliver to?

We provide regular service throughout Norfolk and the Hampton Roads region, including Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Hampton, Newport News, and surrounding areas. See our Service Area page for complete details.

Do you offer inside delivery?

Yes, inside delivery is available for an additional fee. This service includes placing pallets inside your facility rather than just unloading at the dock or curb.
